About My Art
by Anita Hegerland

My art inspiration

I am an expressionist and also an abstract painter. Inspired by people and their relationships, daily scenes, landscapes, the sea and animals. I am fascinated by the moment, by moods, nature and the ever-changing sea. The moment before something happens or a decision will be made. The beautiful light in Norway fascinates me, it’s magical.  I often paints people in my figurative paintings. Some short, some tall. The tall people are the spiritual and the extra sensitive ones. I am fascinated by the moment, by moods, nature and the ever-changing sea. The moment before something happens or a decision will be made.

I loved to draw as a child, and my drawings were often shown in class. For me, drawing was also a kind of therapy and relaxation, and I drew at least two hours every day after school.

Patchwork and Textile Art
For 15 years, I sewed advanced patchwork techniques and attended countless courses led by several of Scandinavia's most talented teachers in this field. Eventually I began to compose my own patterns and "paint" with the fabrics. I still loves textile work and has made many, large and small works, many of them commissioned works from private individuals.

Gallery Rødfjell
In 2016, I took up drawing and painting again and was inspired by my son-in-law and skilled painter Bjørge Rødfjell who ran Galleri Rødfjell first at Spikkestad, now at Nærsnes. Here I participated for the first time as an exhibitor, in the joint exhibition. Bjørge is also my son in law, living together with my oldest daughter Greta Oldfield and their daughter Emmeline (8). Both Mike Oldfield’s and my first grandchild.

A Success
I had my first separate art exhibition at the fashionable Interiør-Galleriet Rosenthal in Oslo in 2018 with great success and the sale of many paintings.

Popular
My original paintings and limited edition giclee prints are very popular and in demand and have already been sold to art collectors in Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Portugal and Greece. Several of these buyers return and order new works. My art prints are made in small numbers with a total of 60 or 75 prints only of each painting. They are numbered and signed by me, Anita Hegerland.
